Government announces drought assistance package

Prime Minister Tony Abbott and the Minister for Agriculture Barnaby Joyce have today announced details of the Abbott Government’s drought assistance package to support affected farmers.

Possible New WA Senate Election? – Decision by Court of Disputed Returns

The Court of Disputed Returns today handed down a decision in relation to the disputed result for the Western Australian Senate in the 2013 federal election.

Government announces review of Renewable Energy Target

The Minister for the Environment, the Hon Greg Hunt MP, and the Minister for Industry, the Hon Ian Macfarlane MP, today announced a review into the Mandatory Renewable Energy Target (RET).

The RET, currently set at 41,000 gigawatt hours (GWh), has come under fire from industry in recent times for driving up the price of electricity.

Prime Minister announces Royal Commission into Trade Union Governance and Corruption

Prime Minister Tony Abbott has announced that he will be recommending to the Governor-General the establishment of a Royal Commission to inquire into alleged financial irregularities associated with the affairs of trade unions.
